Ammas Angel Class -Week 6 to Week 17

Dear All ,

Its been quite some time that we have updated all of you on Ammas Angel class development .Last sunday we had the 17th class for our little angels .Every class is a learning experience to both volunteers and students. Over the past 11 weeks the children have accepted Amma and us as a part of thier life .Listening to the children’s conversations we understand what Amma means when she says "Be like a child innocent and open hearted" .In one of the class a little child asked a volunteer "Didi where does Amma Stay?" The volunteer replied Amma stays in Kerala .On hearing this the little child quickly replied "No didi ,Ammas stays in our heart ."The simple answer given by the child amazed us .What Amma has been saying over and over all the years and yet we couldnt understand this small boy who hasnt even met Amma was answering.Every class is an learning experience for both the students and the volunteers .The children learn new words and lessons and volunteers learn new lessons in spirituality . One more incident happened a week before Ammas bday .We had mentioned to the kids that next week was Ammas bday .Many of the children who come for the class are not aware of thier bdays and how its is celebrated .so on hearing that it is Ammas baday we didn’t receive any reaction from the kids .But to our surprise on our dearest Ammas bday we had majority of the children pluck flowers on thier way to the class and had made small garlands for Amma .Such is their love for Amma .

With regards!!!

As weeks are passing by, the enthusiasm and eagerness of the kids for learning new things every week is also increasing. As usual, the class commenced with the ligthing of lamp and dhyana shloka followed by national anthem and the pledge.

Thereafter, the kids were split up according to their grades and lessons were begun. This time the kids were taught framing of simple English sentences along with revision of numbers. This session went on for an hour.Kids were so much interested and engrossed in writing that they requested us to continue the session till evening. They said they want to study and learn more specially the English subject. But due to time constarints , we had to stop the writing session.

Following the lessons, it was time to have Fun!!!!!!!. Their favourite game of ring-a-ring-a-roses was played. Later Cream biscuits were distributed to all the kids.A story of the Wood cutter and his axe was narrated to kids. The moral of the story being "Honesty is the best policy".They were also taught to throw the waste only in the dust bin and keeping their surroundings clean.

In the end all the kids clapped and sang "Om Namah Shivaya" with loads of enthusiasm . The class ended with chanting of 'Om' thrice and Shanti mantra. then all of us bowed down at Amma's feet .This Project is flourishing day by day with Amma's love and grace.

Amma's Angel-Week 4

Namah Shivaya brothers and sisters!

Today was the fourth week of Amma's Angel. There were fifty kids today. It is amazing the way they come every week on one holiday they get. They were ever eager to learn more. The class commenced with the ligthing of lamp and dhyana shloka. We also had the recitation of national anthem and the pledge.
Immediately thereafter, the kids were split up according to their grades and lessons were begun. All the kids love to write and learn! Given their enthusiasm and interest, had they been exposed to the resources available to us, they would do wonders. The lessons session was exhaustive and went on for an hour and a half.

Following the lessons, it was games time! The usual routine of ring-a-ring-a-roses was followed by two new games. The first one was 'Boogie-Woogie' in which the we all danced to the popular song "Put your right had in...put your right hand out...". The kids enjoyed it a lot and some were dancing to it even after it was over! We also played musical chairs singing 'Om Namah Shivaya' as the song.

Following the games, the kids were given biscuits. A story of the golden goose was narrated. An important quality of not being greedy was taught to the kids. They were then asked to recollect the teachings of previous classes like not using foul language, not wasting water etc. The children were also asked to cut their nails regularly and were advised against chewing their nails. They were also taught to use the words 'sorry' and 'thank you'.

In the end the kids were taught the song, "God's Love is so wonderful". All of them sang in accord and enjoyed it a lot. The class ended after changting of 'Om' thrice and offering namaskaram to Amma. Due to Amma's everflowing grace, all of us are realy enjoying this a lot. The kids are also responding very well. Please feel free to come and join us in this seva!

Amma's Angel-Week 3

Hello everyone!
Today was the third week of our latest project, Amma's Angel. We had an unexpected turnout today. There were around sixty-four children! Almost three times of what we had last week.
The kids were, as always, very enthusiastic. We had to be on our toes all the time to keep up with them!

The class started by lighting the lamp and chanting of "Om Amriteshwaryai Namah" followed by dhyana shloka.
The previous week's lessons were revised and the children were taught basic counting today. After this, there was a small educational game wherein the kids were given instructions like "Stand up! Sit down! Turn to your right! " etc. This was mainly to get them accustomed to basic sentences in English. Many of the kids were very well versed with these sentences! The games session followed this. The kids love ring-a-ring-a-roses, so we play that every week. In addition, we had another popular game 'Oranges and Lemons'. They loved this too.

A snack break of biscuits was given to them. After the break it was lessons time. The children were divided into groups based upon their level of education. Each group had a volunteer to teach them. The younger ones were taught 'ABCD..', the elder ones were assisted wherever they had difficulties and so on.
Soon it was time for lunch. We sang "Om Namah Shivaya" in the end again accompanied by the kids' claps.

Due to Amma's ever flowing grace, each week is proving to be better than the previous one! We too learn so many subtle lessons of innocence, humility and many more while teaching the kids.
Their eagerness to study and learn is immense. We ought to learn so many things from them.

Please feel free to join us and express any ideas to improvise this project.

Always in Amma's love,
AYUDH Mumbai.
